Case study to describe how Standards Fund grants and LA consultant support assist six high schools with mentoring pupils at Key Stage 3. Salford LA was a pilot LA for the Key Stage 3 Strategy in 2001-02. They identified funding for Year 8 learning mentor support, and decided to work in partnership with the Excellence in Cities learning mentor strand to build synergies.
